If you don't know he was he was the last surviving British soldier to have fought in the trenches of the Western Front. He was in the Duke of Cornwall's LI who started life as Fox's Regiment of Marines in 1702 and whose first battle honours were from the Storming of Gibraltar.Thursday 6 August 2009
